He is a founder member and former Chairman of PLIMS, and has been an active BASICS doctor since 1991. He regularly works as a crowd doctor at local sporting venues and other major events. He is a member of the Faculty of Prehospital Care. He is an instructor on many prehospital courses.

Ian Higginson is a consultant in Emergency Medicine at Derriford Hospital. He trained as a GP before specialising in Emergency Medicine. He has been an active BASICS doctor since 2007. Along with his prehospital interest he has additional expertise in paediatric emergency care. He is an instructor on various life support courses.
